Marie Reine de la Paix Church

Marie Reine de la Paix, translated as Mary Queen of Peace, is a Catholic church and sacred site featuring a stunning monument of the Virgin Mary holding a world globe. Crafted from white Carrara marble, the statue was built in 1940 and stands 3 meters tall.

Marie Reine de la Paix church is a significant pilgrimage destination for Catholics in Mauritius. The church is especially revered during religious celebrations, such as the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, drawing thousands of devotees to its sacred grounds. In 1989, Pope John Paul II visited the church during his 44th international journey.
